My First Robot
My First Robot: Ages 6-9 years old
Back to Program
This program is designed to introduce children to the exciting and challenging world of robotics and robot building.   During the program the children are introduced to the main parts of the robot, beginning with some of the key mechanical parts (for example, the gears, pulleys, wheels, and motors that make the robot move and which are usually powered by electricity) and the key electronic parts (for example, sensors and drivers) associated with robotics, and how the mechanical systems are put together. There will also be instruction on the proper and safe use of simple hand-tools.

The children will work on programming the robot using simple instructions in order to give them a feeling of what programming and programming languages are, and how they are able to communicate with the robot through a computer. Upon successful completion of this program the children can then progress to the higher level, or advanced, ‘Robotics’ program, in which they will learn the basics of electronics and computer programming that will allow them to more efficiently analyse any problems and issues that may arise.

The program runs from 3:30-4:30pm, once a week for 4 weeks. Fee $65
